12/13/2019 – New Post, Video Podcast Added to New Book Section
My New Book is Now Available!!!!
Well, this is the week the book is officially released. By the time you read this, it will be live on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and a few other online booksellers.
This past weekend, I participated in an Ask Me Anything event happening on Reddit. It was an interesting experience and was nice meeting new people.
Added 12/11 Check out my co-author, Tony Overbay, and I from the most recent episode of his hugely popular podcast, The Virtual Couch. This is one of the funniest podcasts I’ve recorded and we talk about my first approaching him with the idea for the project, the process of writing our book and read a few questions and answers. Added 12/13 If video is more your thing, you’ll appreciate Tony leaving in one of the biggest bloopers I ever faced doing a podcast, and it’s only about 10 minutes into the show. If you have the time and attention span, I think you’ll find out here why I consider Tony such a friend as we riff off of each other very well. Click Here to Watch on YouTube

Ladies, Do Not Forget: You Can’t Be Afraid to Force His Hand to Make Him Face His Porn Addiction I may not highlight this enough, but pornography addiction is absolutely insidious. It will destroy some relationships and lives, but being almost six years sober and having met and known so many porn addicts and their partners at this point, I can also tell you that if he is willing to do the work, you have a decent chance of turning things around. Guest Post: What Makes a Temptation Tempting? I’ve mulled this over in my head over the past twelve years. Why am I not tempted to smoke a cigarette or to drink a beer? I see those things and I don’t give them a second thought. Some people struggle for years to give up these habits. The difference lies in the desire. I am only tempted by the things I desire. I believe we create, or at least we permit our own temptations. Click Here
Should Those Who Look at Underage Pornography Be Allowed to Tell Their Therapists Without Fear of Consequences? I was about three years into recovery, taking part in a group therapy session when the therapist said something in passing that caught my attention. He mentioned that in Maine, if a patient reports that they have looked at underage pornography and the therapist does not deem them to be a threat to act-out in a hands-on manner, that behavior does not have to be reported to authorities. Dear The Other Joshua Shea, Life is Sometimes Funny This Way I guess the good news is that when it comes to stature, I’m one of the two most famous people named Joshua Shea in the world. But like a set of twins at a family reunion, nobody can tell us apart, even Uncle Google. Click Here
The Grateful Eight Generally, I don’t like these entries that mimic what other bloggers do. I have no problem with anybody else doing them, but I’m not into awards or challenges or any of that stuff. However, since I am a hypocrite at heart, I’m going to continue with an idea I found on another site and began last month. Click Here
12/4 – The Good Intentions Show For those who prefer video podcasts, this was a great one with Tim Ray, who’s an absolute fantastic interviewer. This is my second time talking to him and it’s always a great conversation. Click Here
12/3 – The Drunkalogues Because my focus is pornography addiction, the fact I was co-addicted to alcohol often flies under the radar. In this interview, we talk about how the two addictions worked in tandem. Click Here
12/2 – From Betrayal to Breakthrough Dr. Debi Silber and I spend a fair amount of time in this 33-minute interview talking about how we can keep kids away from pornography. It’s quite unlike most of my podcast appearances. Click Here
12/1 – My Wakeup Call Host Dr. Mark Goulston has sold over 500,000 books in his career and is more accomplished than I could ever hope to be. This 45-minute podcast is one of the most interesting discussions I’ve had. Click Here
Offering Peer Support Counseling
I am formally providing peer support counseling to people who are dealing with pornography addiction or those who have porn addicts in their lives who are directly affected. Consider it a stopping point between doing nothing and traditional mental health therapy. Click Here for Website
